The VORONOÏ CARBON is a riding helmet that delivers the ultimate in new-generation protection by combining carbon fiber construction, in-molding, and advanced temporal protection.
Carbon: The outer shell is crafted from carbon fiber—a high-tech material composed of interwoven fiber layers, offering exceptional impact resistance.
In-molding: A polycarbonate sheet is overmolded onto the inner shell, creating an additional protective barrier between the outer shell and the EPS core.
EPS Shell: The carbon outer shell and in-molding technology allow the use of a highly absorbent, low-density EPS foam liner.
Temporal Protection: The VORONOÏ CARBON is the first riding helmet to feature temple protection (removable), reducing the risk of concussion in the most vulnerable part of the skull.
Safety First
Our commitment to developing the world’s first equestrian helmet with enhanced temporal protection stems from a sobering statistic: in France alone, over 150,000 head injuries are treated in emergency departments each year, with around one-quarter resulting from sports or leisure accidents. These traumas are due in part to the brain’s fragility and the skull’s thinness. The temporal area is responsible for 80% of serious brain injuries.
Temple protection reduces the risk of concussion in this fragile region. Behind the temporal bone lies the meningeal artery; even a minor trauma can damage this artery, leading to a hematoma that compresses brain cells and can cause serious complications—or even death. The VORONOÏ CARBON is the only helmet designed to address the temporal area, absorbing and distributing impact forces over a wide area to minimize risk.
Extensive testing, including that by the WG11 working group, confirms that protection against rotational impact is fully assured without any unproven add-ons—advantages claimed by some manufacturers but never independently verified by laboratories such as Virginia Tech.
Safety, Comfort, and Lightweight Design
The VORONOÏ CARBON’s inner shell uses one of the most absorbent EPS (expanded polystyrene) foams available. An integrated rib (between the upper shell and the lower, temporal section) reinforces the structure, delivering crush resistance that exceeds industry standards.
FREEJUMP drew inspiration from bicycle and ski helmet technologies by integrating a polycarbonate sheet directly over the EPS foam. This in-molding process, combined with the carbon outer shell, creates a three-layer construction with outstanding impact resistance.
The interior lining is crafted from high-quality Italian fabric for maximum comfort, breathability, and head support. It is removable and washable (30°C/86°F, line dry) for easy maintenance and hygiene.
The VORONOÏ CARBON is exceptionally lightweight for long-wearing comfort: approximately 500g (without temporal protection, with lining and long visor), or 600g with temporal protection.
Design and Ventilation
Inspired by the geometric Voronoï pattern that gives the helmet its name, the front and rear vents on the outer shell optimize airflow for excellent thermal regulation. The Voronoï pattern’s irregular geometric cells create a striking, dragonfly-wing-like aesthetic, with each cell strategically positioned to maximize strength and airflow—enhancing safety, ventilation, and breathability.
The inner shell features 20 vents to maximize airflow. The front of the lining includes an ABS half-moon (clipped to the front edge of the inner shell) with two openings to direct incoming airflow.
Customization, Style, and Sizing
The VORONOÏ CARBON is fully customizable: the shell, in-molding, ear loops, vents/grilles, and visor can all be personalized for a unique style. The helmet is available with or without temporal protection (removable and reattachable). We recommend the full configuration (with temporal protection) for maximum safety and future compatibility with the upcoming Freejump Intercom by Cardo, though temporal protection can be added later.
The helmet comes in three shell sizes (S, M, L) and three colors: black carbon, blue carbon, and full black carbon. The interior liner is available in a wide range of sizes (52cm–62cm).
Certifications and Recognition
The VORONOÏ CARBON meets the highest safety standards, including the latest CE EN1384:2023 European standard (replacing EN1384:2017 and integrating the VG1 standard) and the ASTM SEI F1163:23 American standard. It has also been awarded four out of five stars by the independent Virginia Tech Helmet Lab, renowned for its rigorous testing. [Insert link to Virginia Tech rating.]
These certifications confirm the helmet’s exceptional safety—further enhanced by its pioneering temple protection—setting it apart from all other helmets on the market.
