About Tech Stirrups
Tech Stirrups was founded in 2013 in Palazzolo sull'Oglio, Italy, by a team of mechanical engineers and industrial designers who saw an opportunity to apply modern materials and manufacturing to a piece of equipment that had barely changed in decades. Every stirrup in the range is milled from a single piece of high-quality aluminium, making them exceptionally strong, lightweight and fully recyclable. The brand's core innovation is a patented shock-absorbing system built into the footbed that reduces stress on the rider's ankles, knees and hips, combined with a magnetic safety release mechanism on the Venice range that opens under pressure during a fall and automatically resets.
Venice Safety Stirrups
The Venice is Tech Stirrups' flagship product line and the most searched model in Australia. Every Venice stirrup features a moveable outer arm held in place by a magnet. In normal riding, the arm stays securely closed. In the event of a fall, the rider's foot pushes against the arm and it opens outward, releasing the foot and preventing the rider from being dragged. An internal spring mechanism returns the arm to its original position automatically. The Venice range includes several variations to suit different disciplines and preferences.
- Venice Sloped EVO Safety - the most popular model. Features a 5-degree sloped footbed that encourages correct heel-down position, shock-absorbing inserts and the magnetic safety release. Available in multiple colours including black, rose gold, pink and purple.
- Venice Flat Evo - same safety mechanism as the Sloped EVO but with a flat footbed for riders who prefer a level platform.
- Venice Dressage Sloped - designed specifically for dressage riders, with a 3-degree slope and a wider, dressage-specific tread for stability in a longer leg position.
- Venice Young - a junior-sized safety stirrup with the same magnetic release mechanism, designed for young riders who need reliable safety features as they develop their riding.
Dressage Stirrups: Capri Plus
The Capri Plus is Tech Stirrups' classical dressage stirrup, designed for riders who want shock absorption and grip without the safety release mechanism. It features four shock-absorbing inserts in the footbed that follow the natural movement of the foot, reducing leg fatigue during long schooling sessions. The tread has a 3-degree inclination specifically designed for dressage, ensuring correct foot positioning and adhesion. The pad and shock-absorbing inserts are replaceable, extending the working life of the stirrup.
Colours and Finishes
Tech Stirrups are available in a wide selection of finishes, which is part of their appeal for riders who like to coordinate their equipment. Standard finishes include black, silver and titanium-look. Colour options across the Venice range include rose gold, pink, purple, blue and limited editions. Selected models are also available with Swarovski crystal detailing for riders who want a distinctive look in the ring.
Shock Absorption and Ergonomics
Every Tech Stirrup includes a shock-absorbing system built into the footbed. Elastomer inserts sit between the foot and the stirrup body, absorbing vibration and reducing the load transferred to the rider's joints with each stride and landing. Tech Stirrups claims a 30 to 50 percent reduction in joint stress compared to a conventional stirrup. The anti-slip tread is designed with drainage channels to prevent mud and water accumulating on the footbed, maintaining grip in wet conditions. These features combine to support a more stable, comfortable lower leg position across long training sessions and full competition days.
Common Questions About Tech Stirrups
Common questions we get asked.
How do Tech Stirrups safety stirrups work?
The Venice safety models have a moveable outer arm held closed by a magnet. During normal riding, the magnet keeps the arm securely in place. If you fall and your foot pushes outward against the arm, it opens and releases your foot, preventing you from being dragged. An internal spring then returns the arm to its closed position automatically, so the stirrup is ready to use again without any manual reset.
Are Tech Stirrups good for dressage?
Yes. The Venice Dressage Sloped and the Capri Plus are both designed specifically for dressage. They feature a wider tread, a gentle slope (3 degrees) that supports correct foot position in a long stirrup, and shock-absorbing inserts that reduce fatigue during extended flatwork sessions.
What size Tech Stirrups do I need?
Tech Stirrups provides tread dimensions on each model. The standard adult tread is approximately 12 x 6.5 cm. The Venice Young is sized for junior riders. Choose a stirrup where your boot sits comfortably on the tread with roughly 1 cm of space on each side. If your boot fills the entire tread width, go up a size for safety.
Where are Tech Stirrups made?
All Tech Stirrups products are designed and manufactured in Italy. Each stirrup is milled from a single piece of aluminium with precision engineering at the company's facility in Palazzolo sull'Oglio, Brescia.
Can I replace the footbed inserts?
Yes. The shock-absorbing inserts and tread pads on Tech Stirrups are designed to be replaceable. Over time, the elastomer inserts can wear down and lose their cushioning. Replacement inserts are available so you can refresh the stirrup without buying a new pair.
